OUR APPROACH

ADE offers an inclusive education model, based on current ECE research & best practices, founded on the High Scope approach. Our approach to teaching focuses on child-teacher interactions, explorative learning & a data-driven curriculum. Our organization promotes teacher development by offering continuous training & support to our staff, in turn ensuring the highest quality early childhood education. Our preschool program prepares children for elementary school & life by giving them the skills and tools required for future academic success.

INCLUSIVE EDUCATION IN EARLY CHILDHOOD

“Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all” - Aristotle

Our inclusive education model ensures the inclusion of all children in the classroom & community, including those with special needs.  All children are given equal opportunity to participate in activities that promote social, physical, cognitive and language development. These early experiences are critical for the positive development & outcomes of each child. We ensure that all children receive appropriate accommodation & are provided with equal opportunities for enriching experiences in early childhood. Inclusive education benefits everyone involved by encouraging friendships amongst all children, modeling positive behaviors, and setting higher expectations for children with or without disabilities.

Our preschool program welcomes and supports all children, at all levels of development. It is important for our team to work in collaboration with families to spot risks and signs of developmental delays in early childhood so that children are provided with early intervention. ADE collaborates with professionals in child development, who provide in-house therapy services at the centre, during a child's day at preschool.

OUR PRINCIPLES

Our program is based on five principles, backed by the most current research in early childhood education and Quebec ministry requirements.

EVERY CHILD IS UNIQUE

Our educational team is highly skilled and trained to respect each child’s individuality and own pace of development. Our educators apply their specialized knowledge in child development to their classroom practices.

CHILDREN ARE ACTIVE AGENTS OF THEIR DEVELOPMENT

Our classrooms are designed to encourage child-led and natural learning, with the guided support of their educators.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT IS A HOLISTIC & INTEGRATED PROCESS

Learning takes place across all areas of development, at different points in time. We focus on promoting all domains of child development: social, emotional, moral, cognitive, language and motor (physical).

CHILDREN LEARN THROUGH PLAY

Our program allows children to have many opportunities for free play and structured activities, individually or in a group setting. The daily routine is set up in a way that encourages a healthy balance of free, structured, active and calming play.

COLLABORATION BETWEEN SCHOOL & PARENTS TO ENCOURAGE CHILD DEVELOPMENT

A strong relationship between school and home is key for a child’s healthy development and successful integration into the preschool program.

OUR STANDARDS

ADE has developed program standards in line with research-based best practices in early childhood development and education. Program standards are implemented and used to ensure the highest quality educational and therapeutic approaches when working with young children.

RELATIONSHIPS

Our program promotes positive relationships between all children and adults to encourage each child’s sense of individual worth and belonging as part of a community and to foster each child’s ability to contribute as a responsible community member.

PROGRAM &
CURRICULUM

Our program implements a curriculum that is consistent with its goals for children and that promotes learning and development in each of the following areas: social, emotional, physical, language, and cognitive.

TEACHING

Our program uses a variety of developmentally, culturally, and linguistically appropriate and effective teaching approaches that enhance each child’s learning and development in the context of the program’s curriculum goals.

ASSESSMENT

Our program uses a variety of formal and informal assessment approaches to provide information on children’s learning and development. These assessments occur in the context of reciprocal communications between teachers and families, and with sensitivity to the cultural contexts in which children are developing.

HEALTH & SAFETY

Our program promotes the nutrition and health of children and protects children and staff from illness. Our centre meets and exceeds government health and safety protocols, policies and recommendations. We consult with leaders in health, sustainability, and nutrition when creating centre policies and programs in order to offer the highest safety standards in the industry.

STAFF COMPETENCIES, SUPPORT & ETHICS

Our program employs and supports a teaching and administrative staff that have the qualifications, knowledge, and professional commitment necessary to promote children’s learning and development and to support families’ diverse needs and interests.

FAMILIES &
COMMUNITY

Our program establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with each child’s family to foster children’s development in all settings. Our program establishes relationships with and uses the resources of the children’s communities to support the achievement of program goals.

LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT

Our program effectively implements policies, procedures, and systems that support stable staff and strong personnel, fiscal, and program management so all children, families, and staff have high-quality experiences.

CENTRE FACILITY

Our program ensures a safe & healthy environment by providing appropriate and impeccably maintained facilities, continuous improvements, and quality-control measures.
